Research Interests

I’m very interested in the taxonomy of aquatic invertebrates, especially the family Chironomidae and freshwater ecology.  So far, I have described 25 new species of Chironomidae and some new species await description.  Some of my research involves water quality assessment using biological indicators, such as aquatic macroinvertebrates, phytoplankton, and zooplankton.

Projects

  1. Taxonomic revision and biogeographic study of the genus Polypedilium (Chironmidae: Diptera) from China [funded by National Natural Science Foundation of China]
  2. Guides to reconstruction of ecological rives in Shanaghai City [funded by Shanghai Municipal  Water  Conservancy Bureau]
